Getting ready for digging at the beach, Estella rolls up her pant legs. Blaise looks ready for some fun too.

Digging Carkeek

The warm weather gave us an unusual opportunity to enjoy the beach at Carkeek Park in the middle of January. Confession: I love to dig in sand.

Love Two Kids?
This morning I was chatting with Estella and I told her how I loved her and Blaise so much. I asked her, "How can I love two kids?" Without hesitation she said, "Take turns."

Chasing Bubbles

Chasing bubbles is perfect for catching some good pictures. Unfortunately, my digital point and shoot camera (Canon G3) doesn't have the focus and shot to shot speed that a digital SLR does.

Different Kids, Same Bed

Estella wanted "butter" to go in her bed to read stories. Hikeys and Sarah are at left.

This Is The Little Man

He looks just like this. Print this out. Add some slobber and drooling and a diaper blow out every once in a while and you've got a Blaise.

Die Kleine Familie

We were visiting the aquarium late one night and found a mirror that fit our whole family. Guess who gets impatient when dad wants to take a nice family picture.

Homey

I caught the little man flashing signs. He is looking pretty shady.

Seattle Snow

Today we woke up to 2 inches of very fluffy and very wet snow. Most of it was gone by early afternoon. Estella and I built a snowman who toppled over a few hours later.

The wet snow picked up dirt off the grass as we rolled the snowballs that eventually became our snowman. He isn't as pretty as last year's snowman. The snow was perfect for snowballs, but Estella wasn't amused when I threw some at her.

Quick, Staring Contest

I don't think you can beat the staring expert. Maybe he needs to cut back on the morning coffee.

I Sissy

Estella declared a couple months ago that she is Sissy. She also refers to herself as Mia, like when she asks brother, "You like Mia?" Brother is Butter or Budder.

Asleep Before Bedtime

Look at the sleepy little artist.
Little Estella had a rough day. It was very cold, she had to ride in the car a lot, she tripped on the sidewalk and bonked her head and all day for the last few days she has been coughing with runny nose. Robyn went to work out after dinner and I was watching the kids. I set Estella up with her markers to color and was changing Blaise's diaper. After checking on Estella a couple times I went in there again to see how she was doing. She looked tired. As I walked up to her she had a couple long blinks and then laid her head down and went to sleep - pen still in hand. I wanted to laugh and I felt bad enough to cry for her tough day. I scooped her up and took her to bed. I had to get her dressed for bed and in the meantime, she woke up enough to demand stories. She is so wonderful.

Watching, Patiently

After having been asked to wait, Estella sometimes says, "Mama, I so patient." She also tells you after playing doctor kit, that she has to go see "udder patients".
She had a fun New Years Eve with friends at dinner and later at the Seattle Center House. They ran around and danced and got balloons and eventually all fell asleep. Here Estella is waiting and watching for the train to roll by. There was a huge train set in the Center House.
